Bolt action/Straight pull
Hi all
Probably been asked a millllion times but can a straight pull bolt action rifle be put on a FAC as a bolt action rifle or must it be worded as a straight pull.
Thanks

You'll most likely get different responses to this one as many issuing authorities would have different opinions on the matter. Your best bet is to speak to an FEO from your issuing authority and confirm with them.
Re: Bolt action/Straight pull
Depends, my area only list an open slot by calibre, except for lever release, MARS actions etc.
Others list a slot by calibre and action, they appear to like making work for themselves.

Derbyshire just list calibre. There’s no real consistency

Re: Bolt action/Straight pull
Open slots are only listed as calibre and type (in this case rifle, lbp, no pistol etc.). Action type is decided at purchase, so for a .22lr, for example, it starts as authority for "one .22[lr] rifle", and you can buy a bolt action, semi auto, martini, lever action, etc.
Even the FAC doesn't need the action type added to it on purchase, just check the table heading, should read "qty, maker, calibre and serial number".

Re: Bolt action/Straight pull
A straightpull is still a bolt action at heart so I would say yes.

Re: Bolt action/Straight pull
GMP list by calibre and action, therefore my Steyr Aug is listed as a .223 Straight Pull.

Re: Bolt action/Straight pull
Fascinating differences! I’ve never had an action specified on a can acquire slot, they only end up being assigned an action after purchase. Sorry if I seemed presumptive, I just presumed! :)
