Durham Police (Again)

#1 Post by dodgyrog »

I found out today that Durham Police Firearms Licensing (or their DCC who leads on Firearms matters on what was ACPO) are enforcing a 15 gun limit on FACs.
I am under pressure as I exceed that amount.
They make up rules and then enforce them with no backing in law!!!
Purveyor of fine cast boolits.
All round good guy and VERY grumpy old man.

I seriously doubt they could enforce an arbitrary cap like that. Come on Roger, who have you been annoying in there now? teanews lol

I'm always keen to help people in need, I'll take some of your guns to help remove the pressure - no need to thank me, just get a me Pint if you ever bump into me in the Town! cheers

I’d need three FACs....

I really do question the logic of some people, sometimes!
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!

Found out from who? Has anyone else in Durham heard this?

Similar sort of limit in this area...I think 12 is the max, before some security enquiry would be made. Of course the new A5 FAC forms would be under a strain! Mapping pen and a magnifying glass needed.

Cleveland is 12. Any more than that and they expect you to beef up your security and install a monitered alarm.

If that is a hard and fast limit, it's a consequence of a simplified reading of the Firearms Security Handbook, as regards the "larger number" of firearms that should lead to a requirement for Level 2 or Level 3 security. If it's not hard and fast, it's just a selective, but not inaccurate, quote from the handbook.

The double figures = alarm seems to have been in place for years across multiple forces, however this is not the issue Roger is talking about.
