Replacement barrel help

Hi All

I'm looking for guidance on getting a replacement barrel.

The barrel itself comes as a threaded piece that screws into the breech block. Simple enough to fit. So unscrew old barrel, screw in new barrel. Job done.

The question is do I need to have an open slot for a .22RF barrel, buy the barrel and fit it myself. Would the gun then have two serial numbers or would I need to get a barrel made with the same serial number?
If the serial numbers are different do I need to notify my FLU that the gun has two different serial numbers or is it enough for me just to own two barrels?

Would it need to be reproofed?

You will need a slot for the new barrel if it is chambered.

The receiver serial number is sufficient to identify the firearm.

You will also need to know what to do with the old barrel as it is now separate from the firearm and technically you have no authority for it.

The firearm will need re-proofing if you wish to sell it.

Best to talk this through with your firearms certification department as it is their take on it that is important

If your RFD obtains and fits the barrel , no need for a slot for the barrel .
It would have to be proofed .

It would also need to be correctly head spaced. I wouldnt all ways expect a registered firearms dealer to have experience fitting barrels either. If you dont have the experience you need a gunsmith.

The RFD is a gunsmith so should be fine although given that the gun is a GSG in .22 I would be surprised if head-spacing involves anything more than screwing the barrel in tightly.

They have a common problem where the chamber cracks at the extractor cut out.

Stock item at the dealer apparently presumably for the above reason.

As a GSG owner, is this a specific model of GSG with this issue, or a problem all their different models have?
