Single sound moderator / suppressor for 2 different calibers

#1 Post by Ruger1022 »

Hello,
I want to thread my .357 under lever rifle to fit a mod, and due to the mag tube under the barrel I will need an end of barrel design mod rather than an over barrel / reflex design.
I'm also thinking of getting a variation for a new 9mm rifle, is it possible to use the same mod on both calibers? If so I guess I should just get a 357 mod, or alternatively should I ask for and buy two separate mods in respective calibers?

A friend suggested I could just get a .44 mod as an alternative which I hadn't considered, but it might seem odd asking for this on a variation as I don't own a .44 firearm.

Ideally I'd prefer a mod as short and lightweight as possible (even if it's at the expense of sound moderation), as I'm not a fan of long heavy rifles.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where I could find suitable mods for these calibers, as they don't seem common in the UK?

Thanks in advance for the advise, helpsign

.35 cal will do both. I have a DPT end of barrel and I’ve found it very good.
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

As Sim says above and DPT are very good. But if your putting in a variation ask for both calibres then you have a spare slot ..

I too will be looking for a 9mm sound mod if my compensation claim comes off. Back when i first got my 9mm lever-release I had zero joy and ended off getting a titanic Wildcat Predator 12 which was actually designed for .375 H&H wtf

There seems to be more options about now with McAvoy Guns having a decent selection. A Macc Tecc sound mod would be good for a thread only (not reflex) design. I have one for my VZ58 MARS and the sound suppression is excellent for the tiny size of the can (about as long as a Coke can but much slimmer). Getting one that will suit the calibre mught be another story. When I bought mine there were literally 3 pages of calibre/thread options but there's only a handful on the McAvoy site now.

They also do Aimsport Mods and they can go onto a .375 so would work too.

I had a thomas lowe defense (TLD) SRX mod in 9mm (.355) for me lever release. do not bother with these, they are awful.
as sim says, the same can would be fine, but still ask for 2 as you might want one for each. like if you got a 9mm straightpull (god knows why anyone woudl, but whatever) you might want an overbarrel on that instead.
