Hi all
I am trying to find out some information about Diggle Ranges, near Manchester. I have tried ringing and email but with no reply on either. I just have a few questions about shooting there as a non-member, is anyone around here a member who might be able to answer my questions?
I just want to know if I can shoot there as a non-member, how much it costs, if it’s possible to book a range for a day, that sort of thing.
Thanks in advance
Steve

Re: Diggle Ranges
Diggle range is currently closed. When access to the range was allowed during lockdown it was for members only.

"Following the announcement of another period of lockdown by the government, the ranges are now closed completely. This will remain the case until at least 16 February, when the restrictions will apparently be reviewed".
When normality returns, then weekends are for competitions (these are available on the calendar on the website [http://www.diggleranges.com/index.php/calendar]) and non-members subject to having an FAC could pay a fee to enter the competitions on a specific day.
From the website, http://www.diggleranges.com/index.php/a ... gle-ranges
"Range Hire - We are proud to have British Aerospace amongst our regular clients. Greater Manchester Police and the Royal Armouries are also frequent users. We are happy to hire out the facilities to commercial bodies or private clubs. Individual ranges can be hired by the day or half day or the whole complex may be hired exclusively. We can supply targetry and butts crews by prior arrangement. Please e-mail our chairman at michael.weatherhead@btinternet.com to discuss your requirements".
Hope the above helps?

Firstly, the Range is closed so the range house phone isn't currently manned. My email address is vince.bottomley@pssa.uk - for membership inquiries.
Even before we went into this latest lockdown, we had restricted shooting to members only. Normally, we are happy to receive visitors (£20 day range fee).
But, it's not really feasible to book a range for a day - for one person. Weekends are always tied up with competitions (which normally you can shoot as a non-member) and weekdays the range is not routinely manned but we do have regular commercial bookings.
If you are interested in membership, then you have my email.
Vince
Re: Diggle Ranges
I shot there once as part of a Leica trade exhibition. I ended up looking at the possibility of relocating purely on the strength of that facility! Nothing comes close in the South East...
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Ah the Leica days - yes good fun with loads of free ammo! We probably met as I was usually involved in some way.
