Building a shooting range....how to guide?

#1 Post by majordisorder »

Can anyone point me in the direction of rules, regs and processes, insurance etc required to build a range? I'm thinking open to the (FAC holding) public rather than a private members club.

Wasn't thinking too extreme, may be only 200m or so :good: I'm guessing the main stumbling block is obtaining planning permission, is there any help available from the likes of the NRA or others in this regard?

Used to be the Army's PAM 22:

I think this is used when someone (the Army?) inspect a range to see if its safe.

Speak to Iain at the NRA or via here - he is the man who is in the know.

The NRA/NSRA document is just copied and pasted from JSP403 Vol II. Has everything you need to know in it, though!

Oops! Looks like PAM 22 is 'for historical reference only'; just shows how out of date I am

Another question then.

How much would you be prepared to pay to shoot 1/2 day or full day with options of 25, 50, 100, 200 & 300m electronic targets? Covered shooting, club house (well portakabin) etc.
