Have you asked your Club secretary to contact the National Rifle Association and clarify whether this is factual. If you haven't then you should if you have a genuine concern. Or failing that contact the National Rifle Association your self.ukrifleman wrote:Heard today that the MOD are no longer to allow civilian clubs to use military field firing ranges.

It does cover all calibres and applies to FFA (Field Fire Area) ranges such as "F" range at Sennybridge, this was confirmed by John at ODRC.RDC wrote:The MoD press release I saw stated all calibre on Field Firing Ranges for civvie clubs until they had reassessed the risk post-consultation.
I tried finding it last night but for the life of me can't remember where I last saw it despite only being a couple of weeks ago!
IBSR and gallery type ranges, such as "G" range and "J3a" range at Sennybridge, can still be used.

Subsequent posts have confirmed that it is factual not rumour.
As for expecting support from the NRA, I would be surprised if they took much interest, as its outside the `Bisley Bubble`
I remember how much support we got from them post Hungerford and Dunblane.

Re: Another nail in the coffin
Does this affect IBSR ranges or just Field Firing ones?
The above post probably contains sarcasm or some other form of attempted wit, please don't take it to heart.

Re: Another nail in the coffin
Given the ranges are owned and managed by the MOD it's very difficult to see exactly what the NRA can do about this situation, (if it exists) although on the plus side I dare say the NRA bashers amongest you can have a field day!ukrifleman wrote:As for expecting support from the NRA, I would be surprised if they took much interest, as its outside the `Bisley Bubble`

Re: Another nail in the coffin
I will ring the range booking office on Monday and ask them up to now I have had no problem booking any of the ranges for 2018.
Re: Another nail in the coffin
Alpha1, are you booking Field Firing Ranges, or Gallery Ranges? There is no problem booking gallery ranges.
