Praise the Lord and pass the pellets !
Given the alignment of the building, any projectile leaving the upstairs shooting range would have to travel a mile to physically hit the river Mersey in the Albert Dock area. Besides, the majority of Air-gun shooting is done in the right-hand lower level range which is completely self contained.

Admittedly the roof of the upper range might not contain a bullet fired upwards....... but this is why when we are shooting TSG and Cowboy action, I and other RCO's are always looking at muzzle placement of competitors rifles.

Not true, it is because I am over 65. See here:

Several key, long-term members / shareholders of Aintree Pistol have already joined this other club.... this kinda shows how serious the situation is.
One key member of AP has told me that they personally do not believe that the club can reopen while R.T. is still in control.

Several other clubs have been inundated with requests to join. It looks as though its is going to be particularly difficult foe people wanting to get into target shooting sports to find a Liverpool Club to join.

R.T. has said that if it all goes tits up, he could reopen as a Gallery Rifle Club without the need for Home Office Approval.
One of the clubs that I am a member of has also been inundated with applications from ex-members of APC - it may or may not be the same one that you are referring to (??). I'm not 100% sure how many have applied, or how many the club is going to accept - I'll find out more at the committee meeting next week.

Would any members from APC be willing to join another club that has RT in charge? 5mith

Les,

The club is in Liverpool and near to where they used to make Jam....

As regards RT, he has always been fair with me....... but obviously the Police / Home Office have concerns about the way he had been running the club.

Aren't the club members of Aintree Pistol Club abandoning ship rather too quickly?

From what's been said on here the club has merely lost its Home Office approval nothing more than that. A club doesn't necessarily have to be H.O. approved, isn't the club salvageable or are there other matters that haven't been aired on the forum?

I dont think anyone is abanding ship by choice.

When you are told by Merseyside Police you have 4 weeks to join another club or losse your FAC and firearms , it sort of concentrates the mind .

Add to that its just coming up to the start of the holiday season.

Why should they say that?
Unless they perhaps understand that the range or club is about to close for some reason that has so far not been disclosed. This makes me think that there is more to this story than has so far been disclosed.

How about unanounced visits to holders of 12 of more firearms/shotguns ?
How about unanounced visits to holders of less than 12 firearms/shotguns ?
How about unanounced visits to RFD's ?
There are a few other things that have happened to the legal shooting community in Merseyside that are best not talked about .
But it could be said the people like the PCC are only to happy to have a reduction in firearms .

Home office approval of the club has been withdrawn. If you hold a firearm certificate for target shooting at a HOA and that club no longer has approval, you no longer have good reason, hence the direction given.

I said a couple of pages ago that those members without another club or other conditions that allow their FAC without a club, then join the NRA as quickly as possible. The NRA is a HOA club in its own right. At least then a former APC member could look for another club with not such immediacy....

I phoned the NRA to confirm this. All being equal and nothing crops up to the contrary, I was told this would be seriously worth considering by APC members.

What’s done is done. Should APC return to its former operations, is something that will not happen quickly. Members who did not bring this upon themselves need to protect themselves and their property as quickly and as efficiently as possible.

A real shame that Merseyside Police chose to stipulate an arbitrary time frame though....
In 1978 I was told by my grand dad that the secret to rifle accuracy is, a quality bullet, fired down a quality barrel..... How has that changed?

Guns dont kill people. Dads with pretty Daughters do...!
