I guess 33rnd Glock Mags might become hard to get?
No, if this stupid directive gets through, pistols are uneffected ! The glock 33 rounder is a pistol mag
Any definition of self loading will not effect lever release et al since every single eu country allows proper self loading rifles !

I always find it very interesting in the creation of legislation that no one actually seems to sit down and work the consequences of the legislation.

Once again it would be helpful if our "national" shafting recipients could do so and spell out to one and all exactly what this legislation will mean to all types of gun owners.

After six pages of speculation on this subject I am still none the wiser as to what its implementation will actually mean for all gun owners regardless of what "discipline" they follow.

To be honest, I'm just as confused as you are about what will be covered. Several different opinions on what is actually affected.

When legislation is created by fools and people who haven't a clue what they are dealing with and are deeply biased, pushing an agenda to get votes and votes only and are terminally confused by the whole thing what do you expect!

They'll push through all the crud they can rather than admit they are totally clueless and ignorant on the subject.

Please keep in mind that;

A/ This is the Directive, how a country chooses, or not, to implement legislation to comply with the Directive may look nothing like what is described in the Directive, but it is that governments interpretation of it.

B/The legislation has clearly been written to integrate the European wide firearms categorization system (i.e. Categories A-D), which does not apply in the UK (We have Section 1, 2 and 5 firearms, for which there is not a direct comparison/cross over). If they did try to use the Cat A-D system in the UK it has the potential to 'legalise' several types of firearms including pistols, pump-action and semi-auto rifles etc. In other words, there's no way it'll happen.

Every attempt to date to try to understand what the actual legislation will be is entirely speculation and guess work. If I was a betting man I would say that the UK government will have the opinion that the UK already has all of the measures proposed and it will be business as usual (for shooters, collectors appear to be a different kettle of fish).

So it will impact on certain gun owners.

Therefore something for us all to be concerned about and lobby against as our "national" "representative" shafting recipients should also be doing.

Dromia, I though the whole idea was to ignore anything that did not directly impact yourself. Or even better, pass derogatory comments about the discipline or sector in question and best of all question why they should need such things anyway.

Or am I missing something here, after all it does seem to be the norm within some parts of the shooting 'community'

Absolutely, but how to do it before the UK legislation is proposed is the difficult part. Constant bombardment with emails, e-petitions and even written letters have a diminishing return, especially when 'they' use the dodgy tactic of half way through the process seemingly understanding what we were trying to say about the futility of the proposals, agreeing they were 'flawed' (THEIR description) - thus allowing the politicians to say "we've heard you and have changed things", but then at the last minute change almost everything back to original unworkable, asinine restrictions troutslapping

It would also be helpful if those most likely to be impacted 'lead the charge' and give other firearms owners an idea of how potential legislation would harm their section of gun ownership. If, for example, practical shooters couldn't be bothered to examine, mull over and come up with possible impact to their niche, advertise that to other shooters and make suggestions of how to approach MP's etc then I wouldn't expect say, bench rest shooters to do it for them.
